Mine inventories, various mines, Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company, 1867-1899.

Series 4-6 of RG 66-36 consists of various mine inventories of the Cleveland-Cliff Iron Company. Series 4 consists of the inventory of Barnum Mine (1880), listing mine equipment, raw materials, dwellings and improvements to the mine. Series 5 consists of the inventory of Michigamee Company (1891-93, 1896-99), listing mine equipment only. Series 6 consists of the inventory of Iron Cliffs Company (1867-71, 1873-92, 1894), listing raw materials; furnance, kiln and mine improvements; equipment and supplies; wood; forage; furnishings; merchandise; dwellings and other structures; land; mortgage bonds; and a recapitulation at the back of the volume and includes subject index within.

The Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company was formed in 1891 with the merger of the Cleveland Iron Mining Co. and the Iron Cliffs Co. The Michigan office of the new company was established in Ishpeming.
